Talk:Main Page
From NWN Lexicon
Jump to navigationJump to searchSignatures inside text
Previously, when the lexicon wasn't editable by anyone, the signatures were in bottom side of page. Now henesua added his signature just after the text he added. It looks cool actually, but the question is whether is it readable. So far it is, but if more content gets added it might be messy. Recommendations on the signatures? --Shadooow (talk) 16:41, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- I had doubts about doing that, and in retrospect, I think its a bad idea to add your signature after your changes. I was thinking in terms of commenting code when I did that, but an article is not code.--Henesua (talk) 17:44, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- On the contrary I absolutely understand the signing the knowledge. Maybe we could use the wiki's "source" feature, not sure how to code it however, but it will appear as a number with link to the bottom of the page where can be source/author. That would allowed other contributors to add knowledge described by someone else and giving him the credits. --Shadooow (talk) 20:09, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, citation references a la Wikipedia require a MediaWiki extension. I can message Dood and see if he can install it for us.
- Lemme suggest an alternative, though: most pages have a section at the bottom crediting contributors. Add your name to that (preferably with a link to your user page). Another good thing would be to include a note on the talk page for the article stating any significant changes you've made or plan to make. You can then add a link to the talk page like so...

- This seems the best practice for claims that need to be demonstrated or explained in more detail.
- If the explanation or discussion has already been done on, say, the BioWare forums, you can just follow the change with a link to the site...

- Dood is awesome. The Cite extension is working. See this page for how to use it. I'd recommend making the citation link to the description of the issue (either in the talk page or on a separate site) rather than simply using it to sign changes, though. - Squatting Monk (talk) 01:56, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
